Temu is mainly for the North American market, selling relatively low-cost shoes, clothing and bags, maternal and baby products, digital home appliances, auto parts and motorcycles and other products. As of October 3, 2022, in order of iOS and Google Play cumulative downloads, the United States, Canada and France are the top three Temu markets, of which the US market accounts for 94% of global downloads.
Temu proposed a large number of promotions at the beginning of its launch, including a 20% discount on the first order, free shipping fees and free returns and exchanges. On September 16, Timu increased the discount on the first order to 30%. In addition, continuing Pinduoduo's sales strategy in the Chinese market, Tamu has also launched a preferential campaign to refer friends to register the software to get cashback. The effect of these promotions is significant. iOS and Google Play downloads surged 860% in the U.S. market in the second week of Temu's launch. Sorted by the number of iOS and Google Play downloads in the US market in September, Timu ranked 4th among Chinese manufacturers to go overseas to the US shopping software, and the top three were SHEIN, Alibaba.com and AliExpress.
